children’s prayer network
The vision of the Children’s Prayer Network is to mobilise and network praying Christian children; to support and encourage the nurturing, discipling, training and equipping of these children, to enable them to take their place in God’s family as part of the army He is raising up to reach this generation.
The Beginnings
In 1993 “Lighthouse” began at St. Paul’s, Wahroonga in Sydney – an after school group which trained children to use puppets, drama and dance as an outreach and evangelism tool. In 1995 Lighthouse became a children’s prayer group and in May of that year three of its members travelled to Seoul, Korea to attend the Global Consultation on World Evangelisation as praying delegates, along with 35 other children from eight different countries. This was possibly the first time in history that children were a part of a world conference of such significance.
Jane Mackie, then leader of Lighthouse, was invited to lead the team working with those children in Korea. It was as a result of that life-changing experience that Jane accepted the invitation from the Australian AD2000 Movement to set up and co-ordinate a Children’s Prayer Network in Australia. The Network was officially launched in July 1995 at Merroo Christian Centre at the National AD2000 Conference.
The Journey
Since 1995 representatives of the Children’s Prayer Network have travelled to many countries, and all over Australia, sharing the vision in churches, schools, at regional meetings, and world conferences. Thousands of children worldwide have heard the message that children can pray and children can minister; that they don’t have to wait until they are grown up to have a meaningful relationship with the Lord, and that He wants them to use the gifts He has given them to pray, worship and serve Him.
Now!
Today all around the world children are praying - in their own prayer groups, in churches, in schools, in orphanages, even on the streets. Our network is only a small part of a Global Children’s Prayer Movement which is sweeping the earth! We feel blessed and privileged to have been used by God to share what the Lord has given us, to travel to almost 30 nations, and to sow into the lives of many thousands of children over these years since 1995. We praise God that He is raising up this next generation as prayer warriors and agents of transformation.
